About us.
The Huncote Vipers Model Car Club was formed by David Quemby along with Charles and Paul Dunkley, Rob Norwell and Colin Watts.
The first meeting was held at the Huncote Primary School on Tuesday 27th March 1990.
Since then the club has gone from strength to strength and has members of various ages.
The main aim of the club is to promote the sport of radio control model car racing, providing a safe environment for youngsters to use their cars and a place for them to learn how to tune and maintain them. The club is affiliated to the British Radio Car Association which is the governing body of the sport in this country.
With the aid of shares from the Building Society the club managed to purchase a laptop PC, bbk race timing software and AMD transponders to enable automatic and accurate lap timing. This has now been replaced with a vostok electronics personal transponder timing system, rc-timing software and rc-results web publishing .
The club meets on a Tuesday night (6.45pm-10.00pm) and always welcomes new members.
Racing is done using 1/10 or 1/12 scale electric cars on a carpet based track.
The circuit is changed once a month to allow drivers time to test different car set-ups.
